Guia prático
Plan around the full route
From Portugal, compare Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, the Azores and sometimes Madrid by total journey time, baggage, stopovers, arrival time and transfer comfort.
Guia prático
Lisbon and Porto
Lisbon is often the simplest starting point. Porto can work well with the right connection, but compare the total time and baggage rules rather than the flight price alone.
Guia prático
Madrid as an alternative
Madrid can make sense if the flight is clearly better and the ground connection is simple. Add hotel, train, meals and risk of separate tickets before deciding.

Arrival at PUJ
Late arrivals affect immigration, baggage, transfer, check-in and dinner. Keep vouchers offline and confirm pickup details before leaving Portugal.

What to book next
Once the flight route is clear, compare resort area, package versus separate booking, airport transfer, insurance, eSIM and packing list.
Guia prático
Portugal-specific planning
Portuguese travellers should compare Lisbon and Porto first, then consider Madrid only when the total route is clearly better. Include travel to the airport, waiting time and checked baggage.

What changes after booking flights
Once flights are fixed, the resort zone, airport transfer and first-night plan become easier. Avoid booking activities before you know the real arrival time and transfer distance.
Guia prático
Connection risk
If tickets are separate, delays can affect baggage and boarding protection. Leave more margin than you would for a single through-ticket itinerary.
Guia prático
Compare the route door to door
For Portuguese travellers, compare Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Madrid by total journey, not only airfare. Include transport to the airport, possible pre-flight hotel, baggage, stopover risk, arrival time at PUJ and transfer to the resort.
Guia prático
Flight and resort must fit together
A late arrival may make a private transfer more useful and can reduce the value of the first resort night. A cheap flight with poor baggage or a risky connection can be more expensive than a clearer package once transport and fatigue are included.
Guia prático
After choosing the flight
Once the route is chosen, confirm e-ticket requirements, transfer, insurance, mobile data and a 72-hour checklist. Keep vouchers offline before leaving Portugal, especially if the itinerary includes a connection or a late arrival.
Guia prático
Portugal traveller shortcut
If two routes are similar, prefer the one with protected connections, clear baggage and a better PUJ arrival time. For resort trips, reducing arrival friction often matters more than saving a small amount on the flight.
